  • Contact angle quantifies the wettability of a solid surface by a liquid. It is an angle (inside the liquid) where a liquid-vapor interface meets a solid surface. A system at a given pressure and temperature has a unique equilibrium contact angle which is given by Young’s equation.
  • Standard probe liquids: water,formamide,diiodomethane,ethylene glycol,1-bromonaphthalene,n-hexadecane etc.
  • Contact angle meter can determine contact angle, surface/interfacial tension, advancing, receding, contact angle hysteresis and adhesive energy of probe liquid/substrate.
  • Contact angle meter 6mode:
  • Sessile drop: This mode is used for determining contact angle of probe liquid on solid surface.
  • Pendent drop mode: This mode is used for determining surface/interfacial tension of the probe liquid.
  • Extension and contraction mode: This mode is used for determining advancing, receding and contact angle hysteresis on a solid substrate by continuous injection and suction of probe liquid.
  • Sliding mode: This mode is used for determining sliding angle and adhesion energy of the probe liquid on the solid substrate.
  • 3 state mode: This mode is used for determining contact angle of probe liquid 1 on a solid substrate (3) immersed in liquid 2.
  • Temperature controller: This is mode substrate or probe liquid’s temperature can be set and controlled during measurement.
